Zanu-PF is eating its own children

One common thing with all African revolutions is that – they eat their children when there is no enemy to eat.

So why should it be a surprise now that Oppah Muchinguri has come out in the open to talk about Zanu-PF kidnapping Zanu-PF? About Zanu-PF intimidating Zanu-PF? And Zanu-PF eating herself?

When President Robert Mugabe says they have degrees in violence, he means it. Now that there is no enemy in sight to chew on, the animal that Zanu-PF created has turned onto the children.

This is not the first time Zanu has eaten her children. It happened in Zambia. Many people who had left to join the war were eaten. It happened in Tanzania. It went on to happen in Mozambique. Hundreds of cadres were executed.

Now those who disputed the fact that Zanu-PF has kidnapped other people before must know that those things happened.

In 1985, my uncle's huts were burnt down because he supported Bishop Abel Muzorewa's ANC. I know the youth who did it. Now they are adults. But the killing streak in them has not died.

When I was studying for my O Levels, the same youth threatened me with violence because I had refused to attend a Zanu-PF cell meeting. The chairman then, a polygamous sect leader told me point blank that even if I passed, I would not get any job or a place to train at any college without him signing my papers.

I told him point blank too that he must just fuck off. Today, one of his sons is a Zanu-PF driver in my area. He has caused so much suffering and deaths in my home area. I personally know of a boy whom he kidnapped using a Zanu-PF vehicle, beat him up and then left him for dead.

Fortunately, the victim survived the beating but did not live long. He died of the wounds. There are so many cases.

One of my uncles had his leg amputated after a group of Zanu-PF youth raided his home in Guruve on suspicion that he was an MDC guy. They chopped his leg and my uncle had to run on a severed leg to seek shelter in a cemetery. I had to drive from Harare to take him to hospital where the leg was amputated.

A group of teachers in my home area were also forced to drink a herbicide which burnt them badly. Some were clubbed to death while villagers were forced to watch.

Another man was butchered to death while the vice president Joyce Mujuru was addressing a rally telling people that violence is a bad thing.

This is how Zanu-PF works. Has worked before. Nobody is safe. Including its own children. It's a revolution that is eating its own.

It's good that Muchinguri is telling the world how their own animal is eating them today.
